A Blast Furnace in Minecraft operates much like a standard furnace but with a major upgrade: it smelts certain materials at double the speed. Specifically, it works with raw ores, iron, gold, chainmail armor, and tools. Unlike the regular furnace, it won’t process food or any other items outside this list. While it speeds up smelting, it doesn’t provide extra fuel or XP—just quicker results.
Crafting a Blast Furnace
Building a Blast Furnace requires gathering essential resources. To assemble one, you’ll need:
- Iron Ingots: 5
- Furnace: 1
- Smooth Stone: 3
Arrange these materials in the crafting grid as shown in reference images to create your Blast Furnace. This setup is straightforward, making it easy for players to upgrade their smelting operations.

Utilizing the Blast Furnace
Operating a Blast Furnace is simple. It accepts the same fuels as a regular furnace—coal, charcoal, and a bucket of lava. When you place iron or gold armor and tools into the Blast Furnace, they are smelted into nuggets. Iron items yield iron nuggets, while gold items become gold nuggets.
The Blast Furnace also processes various ores. Insert iron ore, and you’ll receive an iron ingot, just like with a standard furnace. The same process applies to gold, copper, coal, and lapis lazuli ores.
Assigning a Villager as an Armorer
Armorers are valuable villagers because they allow players to trade for armor. The more you trade with an Armorer, the higher they level up, offering better gear in return.
To assign a villager as an Armorer, locate a villager in a village and interact with its job block. Remove the existing block and place a Blast Furnace nearby. When the villager accepts the Blast Furnace as its new job block, green stars appear around it, and its out
