Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Shifts US Publishing to Skystone

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang has revealed that its publishing operations in the United States will be transferred to the domestic game publisher Skystone. This move was shared earlier today through the official Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Facebook page.

The transition will begin on March 27, with a new version of the game titled Mobile Legends: Bang Bang US launching on the same day. Players are required to download this updated version in order to continue playing.

Player Data and Rewards During the Transition

According to the announcement, players will not lose any data or progress during the migration process. Android users downloading the new version through Google Play will have access to exclusive in-game rewards. For iOS users, Skystone is actively working to speed up the approval process on the App Store and plans to keep players informed through updates.

Background: Temporary Ban and Executive Order

The game faced a temporary ban in the United States on January 19, 2025, following the removal of TikTok from digital storefronts. Both TikTok and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang developer MOONTON Games are subsidiaries of the Chinese tech company ByteDance.

Just two days later, on January 21, President Donald Trump issued an Executive Order that lifted the ban, allowing both apps to resume operations. This order delays the enforcement of restrictions on TikTok and, by extension, MLBB, for a period of 75 days, extending until April 3.

Mobile Legends was not the only title impacted by the ban. Marvel Snap, another ByteDance-owned game, was also initially removed but returned to service on the same day as MLBB.

Reason Behind the Partnership with Skystone

With the Executive Order’s deadline approaching, there was concern that Mobile Legends: Bang Bang might face another shutdown in the U.S. MOONTON’s decision to hand publishing responsibilities over to Skystone appears to be a proactive step to maintain the game’s availability in the country.

Skystone, established in 2020, has a track record of publishing games such as the roguelike deck-builder HELLCARD and the action RPG Tyrant’s Realm. Although the company has released mobile titles, it is primarily recognized for its work in the PC and console gaming space.

Continued Global Growth of MLBB

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang has grown into one of the world’s leading mobile esports titles, boasting over 1.5 billion downloads and more than 110 million monthly active users. The game’s competitive scene continues to expand, especially in major mobile-first markets such as China.
