Monster Hunter Wilds Director Urges Lapsed Players to Rejoin the Hunt

Monster Hunter Wilds faced criticism for its launch earlier this year due to the lack of difficulty in the initial content, which disappointed many players. Both new and seasoned hunters found the game too easy, prompting some to leave it behind in search of more challenging Monster Hunter experiences. Despite this, the game’s producer assures players that improvements have been made, encouraging those who left to give the game another chance.

Addressing Difficulty Levels

At the PlayStation Partner Awards 2025 Japan Asia, producer Yuya Tokuda discussed how the development team tackled the challenge of balancing the game for both beginners and veterans. Tokuda explained that they analyzed where newcomers struggled, drawing from experiences with previous titles like Monster Hunter: World. As a result, they introduced features such as Focus Mode to ease these challenges. However, this initially led to a lack of difficulty for experienced players.

Game Updates and Future Prospects

Since its release in February, Monster Hunter Wilds has seen several updates that introduced new content and revamped its endgame to provide more challenging quests. While the update cycle is still ongoing, Tokuda believes these changes have addressed the initial difficulty concerns. If you beat the game immediately after its release and stopped playing, the producer would appreciate it if you could pick it up again. Nonetheless, some players have not returned due to ongoing performance issues that remain unresolved.

With a new open-world progression system modernizing the gameplay, there’s hope that future updates will further enhance the experience. The development team continues to work on improving the game, making it a compelling option for those seeking an engaging Monster Hunter adventure.
