Capcom, in an effort to respond to community feedback, has just launched a sizeable new update for Monster Hunter Wilds. The game was criticized for numerous performance issues on PC since launch, and they’ve injected new life into it with this update. There has been a huge drop in the number of people playing the game at the same time on Steam. Additionally, users are leaving bad reviews since the game has a lot of bugs. In fact, so few people play that Monster Hunter World has more concurrent players than it.
Significant changes enhanced performance and added new content.
The latest free title update 2 is out now on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC featuring some great technical fixes and content. The update does not change the minimum or recommended system requirements of the game. However, it brings important tweaks to how VRAM is used on PC and lowers game-wide memory consumption via optimized texture streaming. In the settings’ menus, it corrected a bug where the Estimated VRAM Usage was displaying incorrect values.
Capcom has confirmed for the players that more performance optimizations are on the way in the updates. The company noted that there are many points of feedback that need to be addressed, especially those regarding the endgame.
New Monsters and Underwater Combat
With this update, two of the biggest monsters added are Lagiacrus and Seregios. Both have legion fans among hunters. The update also added another ability where you can fight underwater. Hunters will be able to battle these 2 monsters in extra missions after reaching HR 31 and completing main mission “A World Turned Upside Down.”
Moreover, Both new monsters’ Tempered versions will be available for Hunters who reach HR 41 and complete their standard missions. A quest in the future will help you take down the Arch-tempered Uth Duna monster.
Quality of Life Improvements
The update has made several interface improvements to ease access to the map. While a major chat notification is displayed on the screen, players can now open the map. The game will no longer auto-switch area hierarchies when you focus on a big monster on the map.
Other notable additions include.
New Support Hunters (Mina wielding Sword & Shield and Fabius with Lance).
Item boxes added outside hunters’ tents in base camps.
Option to switch handlers between Alma and Erik
New layered weapons for hunters and Palicos.
Hunter armor β sets added to layered armor options.
From July 23 and until August 6 in 2025, a new Festival of Accord seasonal event will run. Weapon balance changes are implemented.
Some weapons received a balance adjustment. For example, the Dual Blades, Hunting Horn, Lance, Light Bowgun, Heavy Bowgun were changed significantly. Capcom said that other weapon balance changes will come next month August.
Dual Blades users will also appreciate enhanced movement speed in Demon Mode and boosts to the raw damage of a number of attacks. The Hunting Horn got buffed for its Focus Strike: Reverb ability to play an additional note on exact timing. Now, you can perform a Charge Counter after performing a Focus Strike: Victory Thrust.
Future Updates Roadmap
Capcom has outlined plans for upcoming free content. Fans can prepare for Free Title Update 3 debuting in September, bringing a new quest rank alongside a novel Talisman crafting system with unique rewards. These Talismans can get various skills, ranging from weapon to armor skills.
This winter will bring about the introduction of Free Title Update 4. This will also include another new monster and “more challenging elements,” which will broaden the endgame experience. Capcom has labeled this as part of the focus in need of improvement.
PC gamers who are hopeful towards the performance upgrades will have to test the new patch to see if they rectify their issues. With Capcom planning for fine-tuning of issues along with content improvements for Monster Hunter Wilds, the game might offer a better experience.
