Ninjas in Pyjamas Calls for Cache’s Revival in CS2

The renowned esports team, Ninjas in Pyjamas (NiP), has initiated a petition urging Valve to bring back the beloved Cache map to Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) esports. Despite an updated version by its creator, the map has been absent from the Active Duty pool since its removal in 2019.

Cache: A Nostalgic Favorite

The Swedish organization humorously appealed to Valve with an open letter and launched a petition, which swiftly captured the attention of fans. Highlighting Cache’s significance, NiP expressed on social media that Cache resonates with Counter-Strike enthusiasts worldwide, offering an unparalleled mix of strategy, excitement, and competition. Cache, they noted, needs a return to CS2 to delight players weary of repeatedly facing Mirage.

Community’s Ongoing Demand for Cache

Although NiP’s petition carries a light-hearted tone, the call for Cache’s return persists among players. Recent map pool changes saw Anubis replaced by Overpass in July. Yet, the clamor to replace Mirage with Cache continues unabated, reflecting players’ desire for varied map experiences.

Cache’s Legacy in CS2 Esports

Since the introduction of CS2 in September 2023, Cache has been absent from any competitive events, owing to its exclusion from the Active Duty pool. Known for iconic moments such as Oleksandr ‘S1mple’ Kostyliev’s legendary 1v2 no-scope clutch against Fnatic at ESL One Cologne 2016, Cache holds a special place in the hearts of esports fans.

Despite relentless demand, Valve remains undecided about reintroducing Cache for competitive play, leaving fans eagerly awaiting its potential return.
