NRG has kicked off the 2026 season triumphantly by clinching victory at Fragadelphia’s Frag Miami 2 Counter-Strike 2 event. This win sets a promising tone for the North American esports organization, as they showcased their skill and determination in the first significant CS2 LAN event of the year.
NRG’s Road To Victory
Frag Miami 2 was the stage for NRG’s new roster debut. The team had recently announced the return of Joshua ‘oSee’ Ohm on December 24th, 2025, following the departure of Zechrie ‘XotiC’ Elshani. NRG started strong in Stage 2 with wins over Kraken Seas and Marsborne, topping Group C and securing a quarter-final spot. Facing adversity against Team Voca, NRG executed a remarkable comeback with a reverse sweep, winning 13-8 on Dust II and 13-3 on Train, leading them to a semi-final clash against GamerLegion.
NRG emerged victorious in the semi-final with a decisive 2-0 win, advancing to the Grand Final to face 9INE. The final began with a dramatic contest including five overtimes and 48 rounds. NRG broke the deadlock with a 25-23 win, eventually winning the series 3-1 after showcasing strong defensive play on Inferno and Train.
Grand Final Highlights and Prize
The Grand Final was a series of intense battles. After a nail-biting start, 9INE managed to level the series on Overpass with a 16-14 win. However, NRG’s solid defence on Inferno, winning 13-7, and strategic plays on Train, securing an 11-round lead in the first half, solidified their path to victory with a 13-5 finish.
With their success at Frag Miami 2, NRG not only takes home $5,000 (~£3,723) in prize money but also earns crucial Valve Regional Standings (VRS) points. These points are pivotal for invitations to Tier 1 events. Thanks to this victory, NRG has secured a place at IEM Krakow, scheduled for the end of January.
