NVIDIA is stepping up its game in the AI arena by announcing a significant partnership with Anthropic, a key player in the ‘closed-source’ AI sector. This collaboration is set to boost AI capabilities and push the tech world even further into the future.
NVIDIA and Anthropic’s New Alliance
Historically, NVIDIA has formed alliances with numerous AI heavyweights, including major cloud service providers and companies like OpenAI and Amazon’s AWS. Until now, Anthropic was notably absent from this list due to past tensions. However, a recent announcement reveals that NVIDIA and Anthropic have resolved their differences and forged a groundbreaking partnership. In this alliance, Anthropic has committed to a 1-gigawatt compute capacity around NVIDIA’s Blackwell and Vera Rubin systems. In return, NVIDIA is set to invest $10 billion into Anthropic.

Despite this, both NVIDIA’s CEO Jensen Huang and Anthropic’s Dario Amodei have openly criticized each other’s approaches to AI. Huang has taken issue with Anthropic’s closed-source model, while Amodei’s company has been wary of NVIDIA’s efforts to expand its AI chip presence in China. Nevertheless, this new agreement, reportedly facilitated by Microsoft’s intermediary role, showcases an unprecedented level of cooperation in the AI industry.
