The modders of the Elder Scrolls series have set their sights on a new target. Skyrim has been the most popular game for mods lately, but now Oblivion Remastered is getting mods too. The latest? A fan mod that adds a usable Glock pistol to the fantasy world of Cyrodiil letting you take out enemies with modern firepower instead of a sword.
How the Glock Came to Tamriel
This weapon mod, created by the man behind CosmicBoogaloo, was released on Nexus Mods with the joke that Mehrunes Dagon has an uncollected debt. The developers of this mod continue to surprise me. They modify existing systems in the game to create the form and function of their new weapon. To make it fire quickly like a pistol, they added another mod called SlickArchery. The completed item contains real gun sounds, bullet projectiles rather than arrows, and even comes with a holster.
Installation Requirements
Gamers, who are passionate to make their legendary adventures something similar to the latest shooter, will need several supporting mods. You have to install UE4SS for ObRem, UE4SS TesSyncMapInjector, and Runtime EditorIDs. To enhance your experience, the creator recommends mods such as NL_Tag Remover, Auto-Hide Gear, and Returning Arrows. CosmicBoogaloo has hinted that he might add NPC gun replacements in the future, meaning the citizens of Cyrodiil could be packing guns soon.
Oblivion Remastered’s Growing Popularity
The remastered version of this 2006 classic got its first significant update earlier this month, fixing many issues with the title. The game has been a huge success, currently the third best-selling game in the US of 2025, after Monster Hunter Wilds and Assassin’s Creed Shadows. The enthusiastic response has even motivated Skyrim Grandma (Shirley Curry) to stop streaming to play this remake of Oblivion.
With even more content coming from the modding community of Oblivion Remastered, it’s safe to say this game will be the next Skyrim. In other words, it’ll be a long-lived game for mods that bring different experiences to the table.
