OpTic Texas Clinches 2025 Call of Duty League

OpTic Texas made waves in the Call of Duty League (CDL) Championship 2025 by claiming victory over Vancouver Surge in a gripping final showdown, rounding off an electrifying season of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

A Memorable Triumph for OpTic Texas

After getting to win the winner’s bracket, OpTic Texas faced off against a strong Vancouver Surge, with odds against them. Anthony ‘Shotzzy’ Cuevas-Castro and Culyer ‘Huke’ Garland started off on Haceinda Hardpoint, where their team took the opener 250-151 in a best-of-nine series.

Vancouver Surge didn’t let that drop and promptly gave a 6-0 on Dealership Search and Destroy. Jordan “Abuzah” François spearheaded victory in the match for his team. Notwithstanding, OpTic Texas moved forward with a thrilling pare 3-2 victory on Protocol Control.

Intense Competition Between the Elite Teams

As the series continued, Vault Hardpoint became another battleground. With a 250-230 victory, OpTic Texas extended their lead and pushed through in the Hardpoint fights. Despite this, the Vancouver Surge made the best out of every opportunity, winning an eleven-round Protocol Search and Destroy to stay alive in the series tie.

OpTic Texas comes in on Haceinda Search and Destroy, taking the map 6-2 with Shotzzy implementing underwater strategies.  The Vancouver Surge drew first blood on Rewind Hardpoint, but OpTic Texas relied on accurate comms and control of the map.

Securing Back-to-Back Championships

After a 250-215 finish on Rewind Hardpoint, OpTic Texas took the series 5-3, making them the first Call of Duty team to win back-to-back year-ending championships.

Celebrating Their Historic Milestone

This victory confirms OpTic Texas’s status as a powerhouse in the arena of competitive gaming. Damon ‘Karma’ Barlow gains a fifth championship ring, which adds to his legacy as both a player and a coach.

Mason Ramsey dubbed as “Mercules” had an amazing first season as he won MVP for his performance. At 23 years old, Shotzzy is the youngest ever player to win a Call of Duty championship three times.

Brandon ‘Dashy’ Otell and Huke get their second championship rings, which reflects their careers.

The Future of Call of Duty Esports
