NRG has recently announced a significant change ahead of the 2026 Counter-Strike 2 season. Zechrie ‘XotiC’ Elshani, who played a pivotal role in the team’s recent successes, has decided to part ways with the organization. This departure marks a new chapter for both XotiC and NRG as they prepare for the upcoming competitive season.
XotiC Steps Down
The American player, XotiC, revealed that juggling his competitive career with the demands of running multiple businesses had become too challenging. He expressed his gratitude for the support received from NRG, stating, “Balancing competitive CS with running multiple businesses has become increasingly difficult, and trying to split my focus has ultimately meant neither gets the attention it deserves.” XotiC further added his appreciation for the opportunities and experiences he gained during his tenure with NRG.
oSee’s Return to Action
To fill XotiC’s role, Joshua ‘oSee’ Ohm will be making a comeback to the active roster. oSee is set to rejoin the team following a five-month hiatus on the bench, ready to bring his experience back to the forefront. Known for his achievements in tier-two tournaments like ESL Challenger League Season 49: North America and Fragadelphia 18, oSee’s return is eagerly anticipated. His first appearance will be at the Fragadelphia Miami 2 2026 event, where he will once again compete under the NRG banner.
NRG’s Asset Acquisition by DarkZero Esports
In other news, DarkZero Esports has acquired the assets of all NRG esports teams as of December 19th. Despite the acquisition, these teams will continue to compete using the NRG name. Additionally, DarkZero’s Rainbow Six Siege team will also represent NRG in future competitions. NRG’s performance in the 2025 CS2 season was commendable at the tier-two level, but the organization is set on making a significant impact in tier-one events as they move into 2026.
