Helldivers 2 introduces a robust weapon customization system that lets players tailor their firearms beyond simple cosmetic changes. After investing significant playtime, many players, including those who initially wished for this feature, now enjoy the ability to modify their rifles with attachments like red dot sights and stylish camouflage skins, enhancing both performance and visual appeal.
Accessing the Customization Hub
Upon returning to the game after a break, players are greeted with a prompt highlighting the new weapon customization feature. This functionality is housed within the Armory, located on the left side of the main hallway leading to the command center. From there, selecting a primary weapon and choosing the “Customize” option—or pressing the left analog stick on a controller—opens the attachments menu.

What Can You Customize?
Most primary weapons in Helldivers 2 are eligible for customization, though there are exceptions such as the firearms included in the Killzone crossover bundle and all sidearms, which currently lack this feature. The customization options include:
- Optics
- Underbarrel Attachments
- Muzzle Attachments
- Magazine Attachments
- Weapon Skins
Attachments influence key weapon stats, including horizontal and vertical recoil, sway, ergonomics, magazine capacity, and reload speed. Generally, players aim to maximize stats like ergonomics and capacity while minimizing reload time and sway for optimal handling.
Unlocking Attachments Through Gameplay
Weapons now feature a leveling system where XP is earned by using them effectively in combat. Progressing through weapon levels unlocks new attachments and skins. However, unlocking these options requires spending Requisition points, a resource that players can accumulate through mission play and farming strategies. This two-step unlocking process adds a layer of challenge and progression, fitting Helldivers 2’s demanding gameplay style.
