The PUBG Mobile Global Championship (PMGC) 2025 Gauntlet Stage concluded with a remarkable performance by Saudi Arabia’s R8 Esports. Leaving behind their 18th place finish in the World Cup earlier this year, the team emerged at the forefront during this pivotal stage, surpassing heavyweights such as China’s ThunderTalk Gaming and Brazil’s Alpha7.
PMGC Gauntlet Stage – How it Happened
The PMGC 2025’s Gauntlet took place from November 24th to 26th, featuring 16 teams battling across three days for seven coveted spots in the grand finals. Not achieving a top-seven finish didn’t equate to elimination but rather a fall to the group stage. ThunderTalk Gaming initially led the standings with impressive consistency, capturing victories and high placements across the matches. However, on the final day, their momentum waned, earning only 34 points, with their best performance being fifth place in match 13.
Seizing the opportunity, R8 Esports surged forward with a first-place victory accompanied by an impressive eight kills and two additional top-five finishes. The final match was intense, with five teams vying for the last spots in the grand final. Ultimately, DRX and Orangutan were left among the top contenders, with DRX overcoming OG but falling short of the grand finals by just two points due to Regnum Carya’s decisive victory.
As a result, the seven teams qualifying for the PMGC 2025 Grand Finals are: Alpha7 Esports, D’Xavier, Kara Esports, MadBulls, R8 Esports, ThunderTalk Gaming, ULF Esports, and Vampire Esports.
PMGC Group Stage to Begin on November 28th
For DRX and others still in the race, the PMGC 2025 Group Stage begins on November 28th, offering another chance to secure a grand finals spot. With 32 teams divided into two groups of 16 each, the competition promises intense matchups for the six remaining grand finals slots.
