Rainbow Six Siege X Returns After Significant Account Breaches

Ubisoft has swiftly restored the functionality of its popular game, Rainbow Six Siege X, after an unexpected hacking incident over the weekend. Players faced significant disruptions as the breach led to unauthorized in-game currency allocations, bans, and various technical problems. As a precautionary measure, Ubisoft temporarily took the game offline.

Resuming Operations

On December 27th, Ubisoft confirmed the security breach and took immediate actions by halting public access to the game and its Marketplace. R6 credit transactions were disabled, and all trades from that day were rolled back. Quality control tests conducted on December 28th paved the way for a soft launch to a limited number of players. Now, the game is fully accessible, although the Marketplace remains closed pending further investigation.

Ubisoft has turned its Rainbow Six Siege X servers back online to all players after it was targeted by hacks over the weekend.

Unraveling the Breach

During the chaos, players reported receiving an enormous amount of R6 Credits and Renown, unlocking all cosmetic items for top weapons. Furthermore, there was a surge in unexpected bans and unbans, along with peculiar custom messages appearing during matches. Ubisoft clarified that these messages were not triggered by the game’s systems and confirmed that a ban wave associated with the R6 Shield Guard occurred independently of the hack.

Future Expectations

Ubisoft has acknowledged that players who accessed the game after December 27th might temporarily lose some purchased items, with resolutions anticipated over the next two weeks. Players who were not active during the breach period, from December 27th to 29th, will remain unaffected. The developer has assured the community that no bans will be issued to those who have spent credits during the incident, as the investigation continues to unfold.
