REPO’s Major Update Arrives in Beta Form with New Features and Matchmaking

Gaming enthusiasts can now test REPO’s highly anticipated update through an open beta on Steam. Developer Semiwork has made the 0.1.2.21_beta build available for anyone eager to experience the new features before the official release. Accessing the beta follows the standard Steam procedure – right-click the game name, select properties, and navigate to the betas tab to opt in.

The update introduces an entirely new level called “The Avant-Garde,” expanding the game’s playable content. This addition gives players a fresh environment to explore while testing other new features simultaneously.

Matchmaking and Server Improvements

One of the most requested features has finally arrived – random matchmaking. Players no longer need to rely solely on friend invites to find games. The update also includes a comprehensive server list and region selection options, allowing gamers to choose specific server regions or stick with automatic selection depending on their preference.

Gameplay Mechanics and Balance Changes

Semiwork has introduced several gameplay adjustments, including a new Overcharge system. When grabbing enemies, players now build Overcharge, and once the meter fills, they’re blasted backward. Stronger enemies generate more Overcharge, while multiple players grabbing the same enemy share the Overcharge between them.

The update addresses community feedback by adding crucial moderation features. Players can now kick others from lobbies or during gameplay, with kicked players unable to rejoin. For added security, private lobbies now feature password protection, creating safer gaming environments.

Expanded Arsenal and Interface Improvements

Several new items have been added to the game’s inventory, including the Pulse Pistol, Boltzap, Prodzap, and the much-anticipated Duck Bucket – the latter finally providing a solution for containing that troublesome duck that players have been accidentally interacting with.

The battery UI has received an overhaul, with each stock now representing one use, providing clearer resource management. Extraction Points now display improved warning graphics during countdowns, highlighting which valuables risk destruction.

Developer Communication and Future Plans

For complete update details, players can visit REPO’s Discord server, which also serves as the primary channel for beta feedback and bug reporting. REPO has become one of the year’s most unexpected viral hits, achieving significant success that has reportedly secured developer Semiwork’s future.

Regarding the game’s business model, Semiwork confirmed they have no intention of making REPO free-to-play. According to statements made during a Q&A session, the developers explained they want to avoid adding microtransactions or cosmetics purchased with real money. However, they didn’t rule out cosmetic items that players could earn through gameplay after purchasing the base game.

REPO continues to be available on Steam for interested players.
