Resident Evil Requiem Unveils First Combat Footage, Without a Trace of Leon

Resident Evil Requiem has been stirring up excitement with its core survival-horror elements, prominently displayed at recent events like Gamescom 2025. However, fans have been eagerly awaiting a glimpse of the game’s combat mechanics, which has finally been unveiled. Despite this, the much-anticipated confirmation of Leon Kennedy’s involvement remains elusive.

Exciting Combat Footage Unveiled

Earlier today, a new clip of Resident Evil Requiem’s combat was released, garnering significant attention online. Featured in a special program aired in Japan, the footage highlights Grace battling her way through a new area, using a handgun against multiple zombies in sequences reminiscent of Resident Evil 4. Reports suggest the footage comes from a censored Japanese version, indicating that international versions will include typical blood and gore.

The Leon Kennedy Speculation Continues

The absence of Leon Kennedy in the newly released combat footage has left fans speculating. Many had hoped the legendary protagonist from the series’ second and fourth entries would have a central role in this latest installment. While the game’s producer, Masato Kumazawa, has addressed the rumors without dismissing them, there’s still hope Leonard Kennedy could join Grace Ashcroft as a playable character in Resident Evil Requiem.

Regardless of these uncertainties, Resident Evil Requiem looks impressive in the new footage. The game has been well-received in previews, including a hands-on experience at this year’s Gamescom. Players can explore the dark and thrilling world of Resident Evil Requiem when it launches on February 27 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Nintendo Switch.
