Rockstar Updates GTA 6 Website With New Release Date, But It’s Still Exclusive to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S

Excitement and anticipation for GTA 6 continue to build as Rockstar updates its official website after a recent delay. The game, now set to launch in November 2026, maintains its plan to debut exclusively on consoles.

The highly anticipated title was initially delayed from a May 2026 release, with Rockstar expressing that the extra time is crucial to deliver the quality fans expect. Despite this setback, reports suggest that the game will still only be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S upon release. This update follows speculation about whether the delay might alter these launch plans.

Console-Only Launch and the PC Conundrum

PC gamers are left pondering the timeline for their version of GTA 6. With the original launch planned for the fall of this year, expectations for a 2026 PC release have been pushed even further. Now, some fear they may have to wait until 2028. Despite this uncertainty, it’s clear that predicting Rockstar’s moves can be challenging.

In a recent interview, Take-Two’s CEO, Strauss Zelnick, expressed confidence that the latest delay would be the final one. “We wanted to give Rockstar the appropriate amount of time to polish the title and make sure it can be the very best it can be,” he stated.

GTA 6 was previously slated for a fall 2025 release, but the date was shifted to May 2026 for similar reasons. Zelnick remains optimistic about this updated timeline.

The Future of GTA 6 on PC

The question of GTA 6’s release on PC remains open. Zelnick’s past responses have hinted at future announcements regarding platforms. He emphasized that Rockstar tends to follow a strategy that aligns with consumer presence across various platforms.

Well, the lack of an announcement is not something that could be set in stone as near as I could tell, because the only thing that happens after the lack of an announcement is an announcement, I suppose, or a continuing lack of an announcement, I guess that could happen too. It doesn’t seem to me that either would be set in stone.

But Rockstar has an approach to platforms which we’ve seen before, and they will make more announcements in due time. I do believe that the right strategy for our business is to be where the consumer is, and historically what this company has done is address consumers anywhere they are, on any platform that makes sense, over time.

Despite the delay, fans hope this might be a turning point for Rockstar’s attitude towards PC gaming, though history suggests otherwise. Big Rockstar titles do eventually reach PC, but it’s often a waiting game for fans eager to join the action.
