Samsung Kicks Off Mass Production of 24 Gb GDDR7 Memory Chips; 36 Gbps Chips Begin Sampling

With rising DRAM prices, there are expectations that the RTX 50 Super series may face a delay, potentially pushing the release to Q3 2026.

Despite these challenges, Samsung is moving forward with the production of its current 28 Gbps chips, which will be featured in most GeForce RTX 50 series GPUs. In addition to the mass-produced variant, Samsung is also sampling faster 32 Gbps and 36 Gbps versions. These advanced chips are anticipated to be a game-changer, offering improved speed and efficiency.

Industry sources have identified the 3 GB GDDR7 memory chips, marked by the identifier “K4vcf325zc-sc28,” as featured on the RTX 5090 Founder’s Edition card. Meanwhile, other variants will carry identifiers “K4vcf325zc-sc32” and “K4vcf325zc-sc36.” It remains uncertain whether NVIDIA will opt for the 28 Gbps modules or the faster 32/36 Gbps versions in their Super lineup. However, the 28 Gbps modules already promise to enhance GPUs like the GeForce RTX 5070 Super, offering 18 GB of memory capacity compared to the 12 GB on the RTX 5070.
