Sandisk is shaking up the SSD market with its latest OPTIMUS lineup, promising lightning-fast speeds and cutting-edge technology. Unveiled at CES, this new range of NVMe SSDs is designed to cater to everyone, from avid gamers to creative professionals, offering a superior storage experience.
Introducing the OPTIMUS Series by Sandisk
Renowned for its NAND flash memory innovations, Sandisk has rolled out the OPTIMUS SSD series, a fresh entry that’s set to redefine speed and efficiency. This new lineup is divided into three segments: Optimus, Optimus GX, and Optimus GX PRO. Each segment is crafted to meet the diverse needs of users, featuring both PCIe 4.0 and PCIe 5.0 M.2 SSDs. This shift marks the end of the WD Black and Blue models, transitioning to the distinctive OPTIMUS branding while maintaining existing model names.
While specific technical specifications remain under wraps, the introduction of the OPTIMUS series indicates a strategic rebranding. For instance, the WD Blue SN5100 now falls under the Optimus family as the Optimus 5100, and the WD SN850X becomes part of the Optimus GX PRO as the GX Pro 850X. The latter boasts enhanced sequential read/write speeds. The rebranded WD Black SN7100 transitions to the Optimus GX 7100 series, available in various form factors.

Our products span multiple segments and with this change we are making it easier for consumers to find the right solution for their needs.
– Heidi Arkinstall, VP, Sandisk
The PCIe 5.0 segment of Sandisk’s new lineup includes the impressive Optimus GX PRO 8100, capable of achieving speeds up to a remarkable 14,900 MB/s. These models likely maintain the same performance metrics, as Sandisk’s main objective is to streamline product categorization for consumers.
