TaleWorlds Entertainment has unveiled the much-anticipated release date for the War Sails expansion of Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord. Fans of the game can set sail on this new adventure, which promises a host of exciting features and enhancements.
Setting Sail with War Sails
The War Sails expansion, originally slated for a June launch, faced a delay but will now be available on November 26 at 00:00 Pacific Time, 03:00 Eastern Time, and 09:00 Central European Time. It will launch simultaneously on PC and consoles, including PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S|X, with a price tag of $24.99.
Features and Gameplay
A recent gameplay showcase revealed the expansion’s main attractions. Players will have access to a Custom Naval Battles mode, enabling them to create and command fleet engagements across River, Coastal, or Open Sea maps. This mode offers a playground for testing tactics and ship setups without progressing through the campaign. The naval warfare, inspired by historic medieval battles, demands mastery of wind and water physics. Players can employ tactics like boarding, ramming, and crippling enemy ships by damaging their sails or hulls.
Additionally, the Northern Kingdom, home to the resilient Nords, joins the game. Players can trade, recruit, or engage in combat in this land of rugged peaks and icy fjords. The game’s world expands with a new northern sea, islands, and open waters, offering opportunities for exploration and combat on both land and sea.
Expanding Horizons in Bannerlord
At launch, the expansion introduces 18 ships, each with unique handling impacted by wind and waves. Players can upgrade ships with siege engines, sails, and rams, acquiring them through purchase or capture. Port upgrades are also available. As players navigate rivers and seas, they must strike at enemy territories, maintain supply lines, and withstand stormy weather. The expansion also brings new companions, unique weapons, Nordic banners, hairstyles, tattoos, and armor to enrich the game.
Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord, which launched in October 2022, continues to captivate its fan base. It boasts a thriving modding community, featuring mods like Bannerlord Online, allowing MMO-like play with up to 800 players, and total conversions such as Realm of Thrones. Some mods even integrate generative AI for dynamic interactions with NPCs.
War Sails promises to elevate the Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord experience with its innovative naval combat and expanded world.
