The esports department of Shenandoah University has partnered with Gen.G, a global leader in esports. These experiences are bound to offer students looking to build a career in esports more educational opportunities.
The new alliance will enhance the learning experience, giving students professional development opportunities and a unique travel program via Shenandoah University’s Global Experiential Learning opportunities. As part of the collaboration, students will make a visit to Gen.G’s headquarters in South Korea.
Real-world Industry Exposure
According to Alyssa Duran, Esports Director at Shenandoah University, the agreement is an important one. Through direct interaction with the industrialists, it provides the students with a helping hand. This is to experience the smoothest transition from school to office. Those who are looking to work in the esports industry will turn their learning into real-life experience through work placements.

Shenandoah’s Esports Program Success
In 2018, Shenandoah University initiated an esports program that received national recognition last July when it won four awards at the National Association of Collegiate Esports Convention. Gen.G’s partnership closely aligns with my vision of providing outstanding collegiate esports education in the United States.
Gen.G’s Commitment to Educational Growth
Gen.G has competitive teams in the esports space and education-related initiatives, some funded via the Gen.G Foundation. In September, Gen.G partnered with McDonald’s for a Campus Takeover at Marymount University, where students were able to network with industry professionals.
Similarly, Gen.G has partnered with Manchester University to run a specialised three-week program in Seoul to educate students on the esports ecosystem. Gen.G remains dedicated to nurturing a skilled workforce that has the potential to advance esports.
Charity partnerships like this play a crucial role in developing future esports professionals. As Gen.G focuses on education, it could help shape the industry’s future growth significantly.
