Over the years, the game and the movie series has captured the imagination of multiple horror movie fans and gaming communities.

The production house of Terrifier films called Cineverse will be the production house of this upcoming sequel. The studio getting on board shows they mean business when it comes to delivering some quality horror that will appeal to casual audiences and diehard franchise fans alike.

James delivery boy once arrives in a place where everything suddenly becomes dark as something evil is corrupted. He frantically searches for Mary, but instead of finding her, a nightmare-filled landscape with horrible creatures meets him. As James finds his way in this distorted dimension, he unravels the shocking secrets behind this town’s evolution.

A narrative that will resonate with gamers deeply rooted in the source as it draws heavily from the game.

Director Promises Authentic Game Experience

Christophe Gans, who directed the original 2006 Silent Hill film, returns to helm this project. It shows that he is not abandoning the franchise and will be on it with some fresh ideas.

Cineverse executive director of acquisitions Brandon Hill expresses optimism regarding the potential of the project. According to Hill, Silent Hill is one of the best video game franchises in entertainment history and Gans was able to properly recreate that feeling.

Gans himself stated his excitement about collaborating with Cineverse, which, he stated, appreciated fan culture and was committed. Return to Silent Hill, the director believes, will not be just another adaptation; instead, it is made with serious respect to Konami’s world-famous Silent Hill 2, which the theme of the movie is mostly based upon.

The director mentioned that the teams always try to fulfill people’s expectations, and he hopes that the long-time fans will walk away from it satisfied.

Building on Previous Film Success

The film Return to Silent Hill will be the third movie in the timeline; after the original Silent Hill that appeared in 2006 and Silent Hill: Revelation in 2012. Thus, it aims to establish that the third film takes place in the same universe and expand the property further.

The announcement comes as video game adaptations are becoming more and more popular in Hollywood’s studios.  Return to Silent Hill is the entertainment industry’s another shot at bridging the gap between the interactive and the cinematic.
