Sony has unveiled a new 27-inch gaming monitor under the PlayStation brand, set to launch in both the U.S. and Japan. This announcement was made during the recent State of Play Japan broadcast. The sleek design promises gamers an elevated experience, with the monitor boasting “vivid visuals at QHD with high refresh rates and VRR support.” While the pricing remains under wraps, anticipation is building for this exciting addition to the PlayStation lineup.
“We’re excited to introduce a gaming monitor designed for Japan and the U.S.,” said Sony Interactive Entertainment president and CEO Hideaki Nishino. The monitor will feature vivid visuals and a built-in charging hook for the DualSense wireless controller.
Designed for seamless compatibility with both PS5 consoles and PCs, this monitor can operate at 240 Hz, though its refresh rate is up to 120 Hz when paired with a PS5. As always with new tech, the design and specifications might evolve before the final release.
In a detailed post on PlayStation Blog, Shuzo Kikuchi, VP of Product Management at Sony Interactive Entertainment, emphasized that the monitor is “built for desktop gaming with a PS5” and elaborated on its key features.

- High Dynamic Range support with Auto HDR Tone Mapping to automatically adjust HDR settings during setup on PS5 and PS5 Pro consoles, ensuring rich visuals.
- Supports VRR and offers refresh rates of up to 120 Hz for PS5 consoles and an impressive 240 Hz on compatible PC and Mac devices.
- Includes a built-in Charging Hook for a seamless gaming experience with DualSense or DualSense Edge wireless controllers (sold separately).
Kikuchi highlighted the monitor’s support for VESA mounting, as well as its range of audio and connectivity options, including USB ports for PlayStation Link adapters:
- Two HDMI IN ports (ver 2.1) and one DisplayPort IN (ver 1.4) for flexibility with PS5, PCs, Macs, and more
- The HDMI IN ports support up to 2560×1440, 240Hz, FRL, VRR; the DisplayPort IN supports up to 2560×1440, 240Hz, DSC
- Two USB Type-A and one USB Type-C port, compatible with PlayStation Link Adapters and other devices
- Features built-in stereo speakers and a 3.5mm audio output
- Compatible with select VESA mounting systems for versatile display setups
Set for a 2026 release in the U.S. and Japan, further details on the release date are yet to emerge, but pricing remains a mystery. Meanwhile, the broadcast also announced a Japan-exclusive version of the PS5 Digital Edition with a more competitive price, following a similar strategy by Nintendo with its Switch 2 model.
This monitor joins a long list of PlayStation-branded hardware accessories, including a set of wireless gaming speakers for PS5 and PC announced in September, which can also connect to other devices like the PlayStation Portal.
