Sony’s ‘Project Defiant,’ a PlayStation Fight Stick, Will Launch in 2026

In 2025, Sony is releasing its own wireless fight stick for the PS5 and PC, which will enter the fighting game space market. The code name for Project Defiant fight stick has another name that will enhance the gaming experience of players who love fighters.

Customizable and Precise Design for Gamers

The fight stick claims to give players enhanced flexibility, supporting both wireless and wired modes with ultra-low latency. It’s particularly useful for fighting game players who need to execute commands quickly and accurately while playing. The vice president of product development at Sony Interactive Entertainment, Edwin Foo, said, the design of the device allows users to enjoy more freedom when playing their beloved fighting games.

The Project Defiant comes with a comfortable design and a solid-built custom digital stick.  The tool-free interchangeable restrictor gates stand out as one of the prominent features. Players can choose from square, circle, or octagon shapes. The gates can be easily exchanged and stored in a compartment on the controller. Moreover, Sony has included a sling carry case that enhances portability, allowing players to easily carry their fight stick wherever they go.

Anticipation Builds for 2026 Launch

Though Sony hasn’t confirmed the price of its fight stick yet, it has committed to a release window of 2026. This launch coincides with the development of a new 4v4 Marvel-themed fighting title, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, by Arc System Works. Since the fight stick and the game are both expected to release in 2026, the fans will likely see them launch around the same time.
