Splinter Cell Remake Welcomes Back Original Director After 2022 Departure

Excitement is brewing as the Splinter Cell remake gets a new lease on life with the return of its original director, David Grivel, to Ubisoft Toronto. Grivel’s return marks a significant step for the project, as he had previously left Ubisoft in 2022 but is now back to steer the iconic franchise’s comeback.

David Grivel’s Journey and Return

In a LinkedIn post, Grivel expressed his enthusiasm about rejoining Ubisoft as the Game Director for the Splinter Cell Remake, citing the importance of the team and project to him. Grivel’s career at Ubisoft began in 2011, where he contributed to major titles like Splinter Cell: Blacklist and several installments of the Far Cry series. His departure in 2022 saw him move to Ridgeline Games, where he worked on Battlefield 6 until the studio’s closure in early 2024.

The Anticipated Splinter Cell Remake

The remake of this beloved stealth-action game was announced in late 2021 but has remained mostly under wraps. What little information has emerged indicates that the story from the 2002 original will be reimagined to resonate more with today’s audience, aiming for authenticity and relevance.

David Grivel’s return to Ubisoft is a promising development for fans eagerly awaiting the Splinter Cell remake, as he brings his deep understanding and passion for the franchise back to the helm.
