Splitgate 2 Returns as Splitgate: Arena Reloaded

In an exciting comeback, the portal arena shooter from 1047 Games returns with a fresh identity as Splitgate: Arena Reloaded. This relaunch comes packed with new features and enhancements, aiming to elevate the gaming experience for players worldwide.

What’s New in Splitgate Arena Reloaded?

The revamped game introduces significant adjustments to its core mechanics, as detailed in a comprehensive Steam blog post. Splitgate: Arena Reloaded emerges with improvements such as manageability enhancements to portals, the removal of factions, and the addition of new weapons. Players can now use EMP Grenades to disable enemy portals, and new map pick-ups include legendary weapons for a more competitive arena experience.

The game’s mode pool has also been refreshed. The Classic Arena mode is a notable addition, featuring even starts and fixed loadouts reminiscent of original Splitgate gameplay. Additionally, with five new arena maps, the map pool has grown to 20, offering new environments like Hammerhead and Terra-13, while Karman Station and Oasis make a return.

Quality of Life Changes

Player progression has been overhauled with a new structure consisting of 75 Rookie levels and 1000 Challenger levels across 10 tiers. Proelium now serves as a progression currency, and players can enjoy daily login rewards alongside new player stats.

The in-game store has been adjusted, compensating players with in-game currency for past purchases. Improvements to audio, performance, and the map creator, along with a refined UI, round out the quality of life enhancements.

What Happened to Splitgate 2?

The path to this relaunch was not without its challenges. Splitgate 2 faced a rocky launch with controversies and declining player numbers following its initial release. Reacting to these issues, 1047 Games decided to revert the game to beta earlier this year.

Through a series of beta tests, culminating in the final playtest in November 2025, the developers focused on refining the portal shooter experience. Splitgate: Arena Reloaded stands as the result of a dedicated six-month development effort, ready to redefine portal-based arena shooting.
