Springs, Eternal: Fullbright Unveils New Game as Steve Gaynor Embarks on Solo Developer Journey

Excitement is in the air as Fullbright unveils its latest game, Springs, Eternal, promising a unique lo-fi narrative journey. The game marks the continuation of Steve Gaynor’s solo development career following his transition from team collaborations to individual projects.

A New Narrative Journey

Springs, Eternal is set to captivate players with its “short, focused, supernatural-inflected first-person narrative exploration” design. Gamers can expect an engaging experience packed into two to three hours of gameplay, set for release on PC in 2026. The game invites players to navigate a mysterious retreat, uncovering stories through interactions with fellow guests. These encounters reveal “deeply heartfelt memories of the romantic relationship” that brings the characters together, hinting at new paths ahead. Enthusiasts of Firewatch and The Twilight Zone may find this blend particularly intriguing. Catch a glimpse of the game in the first-look trailer:

Solo Ventures and Past Successes

This project follows Gaynor’s previous solo endeavor, the compact Fullbright Presents: Toilet Spiders. Known for his work with The Fullbright Company, Gaynor was instrumental in the creation of indie favorites like Gone Home and Tacoma. However, during the development of Open Roads, Gaynor’s colleagues departed amid reports of a toxic work environment, leaving the game to be completed without him. Now, Fullbright operates mainly as Gaynor’s solo label, focusing on atmospheric, emotionally-driven first-person narratives, often with a quirky twist.
