Ubisoft has officially revealed the release date for Star Wars: Outlaws on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. While the game had already been confirmed for the new handheld, it won’t be part of the console’s initial launch lineup on June 5. Instead, players can expect the sci-fi action title to arrive on September 4.
Set in the Star Wars universe between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, the game centers on Kay Vess, a low-level outlaw marked for death by a criminal syndicate. The narrative follows her perilous journey through the galaxy, mixing heists, exploration, and intense confrontations. While the game offers expansive environments and a strong sense of adventure, some early feedback noted basic stealth mechanics, repetitive battles, and launch-day bugs as drawbacks.
Although Ubisoft didn’t provide many additional specifics, the release window confirmation is significant for fans awaiting the Switch 2’s expanding game lineup. With many American and Canadian players currently in pre-order uncertainty due to ongoing tariff complications under the current administration, news of upcoming titles helps maintain momentum and interest in the platform.
The announcement came during today’s Star Wars Celebration event in Japan. Ubisoft also used the opportunity to preview the second major story expansion for Star Wars: Outlaws, titled A Pirate’s Fortune. This new DLC will have Kay teaming up with the infamous Hondo Ohnaka to challenge the feared Rokana Raiders and their leader, Stinger Tash. A Pirate’s Fortune is set for release on May 15.
