1047 Games is sending a clear message to its fans regarding the performance of Splitgate: Arena Reloaded on Steam: “Steam Charts don’t measure fun.” Despite the numbers, the studio remains optimistic about the game’s future.
An Unexpected Turnaround for Splitgate
Inspired by Halo and Portal, this FPS re-emerged on December 17 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X | S after a significant revamp announced back in July 2025. The decision came after layoffs and the studio’s promise to return with “big, sweeping changes.” Yet, the re-launch has not met player expectations, with just 2,300 players at launch and around 800 players currently, according to SteamDB. This has sparked community debates about the shooter’s future, but 1047 Games holds a different perspective.

The team states, “Steam Charts don’t measure fun. They show one number, on one platform, at one given moment. They don’t show the full picture or what it feels like to actually play, and they definitely don’t capture the community that’s actively helping shape what Arena Reloaded is becoming (including upcoming content like Arena Royale).”
Looking Beyond the Numbers
The comparison between the current player numbers for Arena Reloaded and the nearly 26,000 users for Splitgate 2 is hard to miss. However, 1047 Games emphasizes that the re-launch was also on consoles and the Epic Games Store, where data isn’t as readily available. The studio is committed to continually improving Splitgate: Arena Reloaded and is actively engaging with its community for feedback.
“Thank you to our amazing community for your feedback and passion,” 1047 expresses. “And for those who haven’t tried it yet: Arena Reloaded is free. The gameplay’s the best it’s ever been, and we’d love for you to form your own opinion. A lot of passionate people worked very hard on it.”
What Lies Ahead for Splitgate
While countering the negative sentiment online, 1047 Games is looking forward to releasing the Arena Royale component soon. Splitgate: Arena Reloaded has introduced a rebuilt progression system, new maps, and more. Reports suggest Splitgate 2 had received a 7/10 review upon its initial release last year.
