RTS fans, rejoice! The game you’ve been waiting for has finally left Early Access and has made great strides.
Stormgate takes you through an exhilarating experience of a 1v1 RTS match before a timer runs out. As the timer ticks down, you feel the thrill in the air. The match starts and players compete against each other to win the match. Stormgate, which faced its challenges in Early Access, makes its contribution to the RTS genre with both small and big innovations.
Though it is no longer labeled ‘Early Access,’ the developers of Stormgate have stopped short of calling it version 1.0. HUD updates, faction improvements, and graphical updates are all being worked on as are “In Development Modes.” While many may not be pleased with certain changes to its core 1v1 mode, Stormgate still manages to present some excitement of its own.

Nostalgic Vibes and Ingenious Additions
Stormgate was made by ex-Blizzard RTS veterans just like their older games. For gamers who were trained via Brood War and WarCraft 3, this could feel like a throwback to the olden days. Controlling human Vanguard units and executing plays is so much fun it’s like a food critic getting teleported back to his childhood favourite. The game’s mechanics and simple controls play with your body’s rhythms. Frost Giant is clearly well-versed in the RTS dance.
But, innovation hasn’t been left behind. The strategic upgrade of Stormgate includes quality-of-life enhancements like auto control groups or shortcut commands. Adding these improvements makes for a better real-time experience and is so useful you wish they existed in every RTS.

Factions and Their Intricacies
As someone who loves to play similar factions in other RTS games, I found the Human Vanguard captivating. The way they function is very simple and so is a good point for players. It takes finesse to use them well. For example, managing the veterancy of your units keeps extra losses to a minimum and allows you to benefit from the complexity of this system.
The Celestial faction has been enhanced in many ways, while gameplay is now easier while remaining distinct. Roles of components (like Morph Cores) and Arcship function have been clarified so players can understand more without restricting creativity.
The Infernals, however, removed the animus bar and moved abilities to buildings which could be considered a step back. Would like to see the animus bar back in the game. This change took out a major faction element but still hoping to add it back at a later date.

Campaign and Community Creations
The 12-mission campaign looks great following an impressive revamp from the Early Access phase. Nonetheless, the missions are captivating, the models have been redone, and the story is exciting; one does not mind the unpolished look of certain locations showing hasty development. For a reasonable price, players can experience this plot, which takes hours to uncover.
Stormgate’s map editor is perfect for anyone who loves customizing scenarios. While some features are still being worked on, members of the community have already built great maps and modes using the flexible tools available.

Stormgate is moving ahead in the world of competitive RTS gaming. Using experience and innovation, it freshens up the familiar RTS framework and excites players to jump quickly back into the match. The campaign has come a long way from the early days, leaving room for the game to take full bloom. Stormgate will be a major RTS game for veterans but it will also appeal to newcomers thanks to the half old and half new mechanics.
