Tachyum Reveals TDIMM DDR5: Boosting to 1 TB Per DIMM & 5x Bandwidth to 231 GB/s, Teasing DDR6 TDIMM for 2028

Tachyum is setting the stage for a revolution in memory technology with its announcement of the TDIMM memory standard. This open-source innovation is poised to deliver significant gains in bandwidth and capacity, promising to transform data centers and AI computations.

Tachyum’s TDIMM: Redefining Memory Performance

In the wake of their groundbreaking 2nm Prodigy and Prodigy Ultimate chips, Tachyum unveils the TDIMM standard. Designed to significantly boost bandwidth, the DDR5 TDIMM increases data throughput from 51 GB/s to an impressive 281 GB/s, a 5.5x improvement over standard RDIMMs. The adaptable TDIMM design supports various form factors, offering memory modules with capacities ranging from 256 GB to an enormous 1 TB per module, depending on their size.

One of the standout features of TDIMM is its ability to double the data rate while only increasing signal requirements by 38%, reducing the need for DRAM ICs by 10%, thus promising a 10% cost reduction.

Future Prospects for TDIMM Technology

Tachyum’s vision for the future of TDIMM technology includes evolutionary upgrades aimed at elevating bandwidth to an astounding 27 TB/s by 2028. This projection dwarfs the expected capabilities of DDR6, which is anticipated to enhance from 6.7 TB/s to 13.5 TB/s.

Tachyum today announced details about how its TDIMM™ is bringing the future of AI and computing, enabling AI models with parameters many orders of magnitude greater than those of any existing solution at a fraction of the cost. TDIMM is key to reducing the estimated cost of OpenAI data center $3 trillion and 250,000 megawatts of power to $27 billion and 540 megawatts.

“The TDIMM is key in reducing the cost of AI systems trained on all the knowledge from $8 trillion and 276 gigawatts to $78 billion and 1 gigawatt in 2028,” said Dr. Radoslav Danilak, founder and CEO of Tachyum. “The TDIMM ushers in the era of affordable AI trained on all written knowledge produced by humanity, accessible to many companies and nations.”

This new TDIMM standard could revolutionize AI and data center operations by significantly reducing costs and power consumption, making AI technologies more accessible globally.

While Tachyum makes compelling claims about TDIMM, the industry awaits to see if these ambitious plans will materialize beyond the announcement phase.
