Terminator: Survivors Faces Indefinite Delay After Nacon Drops Multiplayer Co-Op

Excitement for Terminator: Survivors is met with a mix of anticipation and disappointment as major changes are announced. Developer Nacon has decided to axe the multiplayer co-op feature and delay the game’s release indefinitely, aiming for a polished final product.

Game Development Challenges

Nacon Studio Milan’s creative director, Marco Ponte, shared updates about the open-world spin-off on its Steam page. The game, which was initially set for release before 2026, has been pushed back, leaving fans without a clear launch date. But the delay isn’t the only setback; the planned multiplayer co-op mode has been completely removed.

The multiplayer feature was originally going to let players team up with up to three friends to survive in a post-Judgment Day world. However, after extensive internal testing and discussions with fans, the developers decided to abandon this mode. Ponte explained that to deliver a true ‘Terminator’ experience with the highest quality shooting and exploration gameplay, it was necessary to forego cooperative multiplayer.

Aiming for Perfection

Initially announced in July 2022, Terminator: Survivors was described as a survival experience set in a beloved sci-fi universe, with an expected release date of October 24, 2024. However, an announcement in August 2024 delayed it to an unspecified time in 2025.

Now, without even a launch window, Nacon has shifted focus from early access. Ponte stated that Nacon’s priority is ensuring players receive a “complete and polished experience” upon release. The studio encourages fans to register for closed playtests to stay involved during development.

Future Expectations

“We know expectations are high, and we can’t wait to show you what we’ve been working on,” Ponte commented. For now, gratitude goes to the fans sticking with the journey to create a game worthy of the Terminator legacy. Updates will follow as soon as possible.

Terminator: Survivors will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X | S.
