Mongolian esports is making waves as The Huns Esports officially welcomes Unudelger ‘controlez’ Baasanjargal to their Counter-Strike 2 team. As one of the region’s most seasoned players, controlez brings significant expertise and competitive experience to the all-Mongolian roster, aiming to elevate their success in international tournaments.
Controlez: A Seasoned Addition
The 28-year-old rifler joins The Huns Esports after a two-month period serving as a stand-in for The MongolZ. Announced on January 6th, 2026, his signing completes a roster that is geared up to continue the momentum of Mongolian esports on the global stage. Controlez is celebrated for his extensive experience, having been active in the competitive scene since 2017. He has previously played for Chinggis Warriors, Checkmate, and most recently, The MongolZ. During his tenure with The MongolZ, controlez achieved a top-six finish at IEM Chengdu 2025 and made consecutive top-eight placements at BLAST Rivals Fall 2025 and the StarLadder Budapest Major.
The Future for The Huns Esports
The inclusion of controlez follows the exit of Anarbileg ‘cobrazera’ Uuganbayar, who transitioned to The MongolZ for the 2026 season. Last year also saw The Huns bring in Badral ‘carnage’ Purevkhuu as their new coach. Presently ranked 68th in the Valve Regional Standings, The Huns Esports is poised to ascend the rankings with controlez’s high-caliber gameplay.
Looking ahead, The Huns Esports is set to compete in the closed qualifiers for the Zhi-Tech Elite Masters, a prestigious Chinese LAN event. This tournament not only offers early VRS points but also a chance to compete in the IEM Cologne Major. Eight teams from these qualifiers will advance to the LAN finals, contending for a portion of the ¥300,000 CNY (~£31,756) prize pool. The triumphant team will also secure a spot in the closed qualifier for the Asian Champions League, scheduled for late April.
