The Le Mans Virtual Series is set to make a stunning return after its two-year hiatus. Moreover, the qualifiers will take place during the last quarter of 2025. Furthermore, the Le Mans Ultimate title will be the recognised sim racing event for this popular event. Motorsport Games has announced the news via a press release. Finally, with the title set for full launch in July 2023, it becomes clear that the plan is to become more focused on esports again. So, rFactor 2 is getting replaced by Le Mans Ultimate as the new platform for the races in this series.
Esports Revival and New Features
During a trial event, 6 Hours of Qatar held this August, Motorsport Games has introduced driver swaps! In a staggering performance, 6,000 sim drivers and 1700 teams showed up for the event. This indicates that multi-driver team events are possible. Stephen Hood, the CEO of Motorsport Games, remarked during the earnings presentation for Q2 2025 that the incorporation of team events enables them to accelerate their efforts to showcase the world’s largest racing esports event once again. He said Le Mans Virtual will come back for its final expected next year with qualifiers beginning in the Q4 of this year.

A Rich Legacy in Sim Racing
In 2020, at the height of the pandemic, the Le Mans Virtual Series was created as an alternative to traditional motorsport to attract sim racers and real drivers. Sadly, the series was paused after the 2023/24 24 Hours of Le Mans Virtual encountered a ‘technical glitch’ issue which was highlighted by four-time Formula 1 champion Max Verstappen.
Looking Ahead: Le Mans Virtual 2025 Qualifiers
Motorsport Games has yet to reveal additional information about the 2025 qualifiers. Previously, you could take part in the Le Mans Virtual Cup to qualify for the major league as a sim racer.
