Thunderobot has made a groundbreaking move by introducing its first gaming PCs powered by China’s own Hygon C86 CPUs. With this launch, Thunderobot targets the domestic market, showcasing the potential of homegrown technology.
Hygon’s 16-Core CPUs Make Their Debut in Gaming PCs
During a recent eSports event in China, Thunderobot surprised attendees by unveiling gaming PCs that sport not the usual AMD or Intel CPUs but the home-produced Hygon C86 processors. These PCs promise solid performance for mainstream eSports games and can even handle some AAA titles.

Technical Specifications and Performance
The Hygon C86-4G CPUs boast up to 16 cores and 32 threads, equipped with 32 MB of L3 cache. They support cutting-edge standards like DDR5 memory and PCIe 5.0 expansion. These consumer-grade machines are ready for deployment, but it’s essential to note that while they boast a 16-core design akin to AMD’s offerings, they should not be directly compared. Their unique chiplet structure consists of two chiplets, each with 8 cores and 16 MB of L3 cache.

Positioned between the Core i7-13700 and Core i7-14700, the Hygon C86 CPUs deliver impressive results in both SPEC 2006 and V-Ray tests. These systems also showcased the capability of running “Black Myth: Wukong” with smooth framerates, although the GPU specifics remain undisclosed.

Future Outlook and Market Strategy
Compatible with the x86 ecosystem, these CPUs seamlessly run Windows OS and its associated applications and games. Despite the absence of specific pricing details, it’s anticipated that Thunderobot’s offerings will be competitively priced. The introduction of the Hygon C86 processor marks a significant step towards a China-First policy in the gaming tech industry, hinting at a future filled with more domestically produced innovations.
