Exciting news for Pokémon fans as a brand-new theme park is set to open its doors in Tokyo next year. Named PokéPark KANTO, this will be the first permanent outdoor attraction dedicated to the beloved monster-catching series. Nestled within Yomiuriland, Tokyo’s largest theme park, the park promises an immersive experience for all who enter.
A World of Pokémon Adventures
According to the concept video shared by the Pokémon Company’s official social media, PokéPark invites guests to step into the shoes of trainers, bringing the games to life. Visitors will be welcomed by the iconic Kanto starter Pokémon—Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle. The park is cleverly divided into two main areas: the Pokémon Forest and Sedge Town. The Pokémon Forest offers a scenic trail where guests can admire various Pokémon statues, while Sedge Town features attractions such as the Vee Vee Voyage carousel, a Pokémon Center with exclusive merchandise, a Trainer’s Mart for unique refreshments, and the Sedge Gym where Pikachu stage shows will be held. Fans can also look forward to Pokémon meet and greets, as well as a lively Pokémon parade. Overall, the park will showcase over 600 Pokémon, making it a dream destination for any fan.
Tickets and Access
The grand opening of PokéPark KANTO is slated for February 5, 2026. Starting November 21 this year, tickets will be available via lottery. The Ace Trainer’s Pass provides unrestricted access to both the Pokémon Forest and Sedge Town, along with special perks like priority lane access and reserved seating for shows. The Trainer’s Pass offers unlimited entry to Sedge Town and a designated timeslot for the Pokémon Forest. Additionally, a Sedge Town-only pass is planned for future release. The Rise of Video Game Theme Parks
In recent times, video game-inspired theme parks have been gaining popularity. Universal Studios Japan in Osaka has introduced Super Nintendo World, which expanded with a new Donkey Kong Country area just last year. In the United States, visitors can enjoy Super Nintendo World at both Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Epic Universe, with a larger venue set to open at Universal Orlando Resort soon. Furthermore, Minecraft-themed parks are expected to launch in the U.S. and the UK between 2026 and 2027.
