Toronto Ultra Transforms Into Toronto KOI

In a bold move, OverActive Media has unveiled a new identity for its Call of Duty League franchise, transitioning from Toronto Ultra to Toronto KOI. This rebranding effort is a strategic step to unify the company’s diverse gaming portfolio under a cohesive platform. By aligning with the Movistar KOI and other teams competing in esports like League of Legends, Toronto KOI is set to bring a fresh wave of excitement to the competitive landscape.

OverActive Media has rebranded its Call of Duty League (CDL) franchise from Toronto Ultra to Toronto KOI.

The Strategy Behind the Rebrand

The shift to Toronto KOI is not just about a name change. It signifies the franchise’s commitment to creating a unified brand identity that resonates across different regions and esports titles. Adam Adamou, CEO of OverActive Media, emphasized the benefits of this transformation for fans, players, partners, and the broader esports ecosystem. The new identity is designed to deliver lasting value and enhance the brand’s presence on a global scale.

Celebrating the New Identity

To mark this new chapter, a launch party was held on October 23rd, 2025, where Toronto KOI unveiled their 2026 jersey. This event was the first glimpse of the merchandise that will be available when the collection officially launches in December. The rebrand of Toronto KOI reflects a broader trend within the CDL, as it becomes the third franchise to announce a rebrand ahead of the Black Ops 7 season, following Team Falcons and G2 Esports.

Further CDL Rebrands

The Call of Duty League is witnessing a wave of rebranding, with Toronto KOI leading the charge. In addition to Toronto’s transformation, Team Falcons moved from Las Vegas to Riyadh in September, while October saw G2 Esports transition from Minnesota Rokkr to G2 Minnesota. Meanwhile, Gentle Mates are hinting at a potential relocation, having removed Los Angeles from their social media, yet keeping their new 2026 location under wraps. With no original franchise names from the league’s inception present, the upcoming season signifies a dynamic new era for the league as it enters its sixth season.
