Unlocking Alma’s Custom Looks in Monster Hunter Wilds

Monster Hunter Wilds expands its character customization in a fresh update, this time giving attention to Alma, your loyal handler. While players have long been able to alter the appearance of their hunter, Palico, and Seikret, a recent Title Update introduces new clothing and glasses options for Alma. However, unlocking these visuals isn’t entirely straightforward, particularly when it comes to her glasses.

Finding Alma’s Alternate Outfits

Although Alma’s default look remains intact, the update brings three alternative outfits for players interested in updating her wardrobe. These outfits are accessible through your platform’s digital storefront, but can also be obtained directly in-game.

To initiate this process, visit a Support Deck Palico either at a base camp or the Grand Hub. From there, navigate to the Add-Ons menu and search for Alma’s available outfit packs:

  • Scrivener’s Coat: A nostalgic throwback to Alma’s look from the game’s introduction, available for free.
  • New World Commission Outfit: A classic ensemble reminiscent of a prior handler design. Priced at $5.99.
  • Spring Blossom Kimono: A seasonal costume tied to the Festival of Accord: Blossomdance. Also costs $5.99 and can be worn freely during the event.

After downloading any of these outfits, head to a tent, scroll to the Appearance Menu, select “Change Appearance,” and then choose “Change Alma’s Outfit.” This new menu will let you switch between her original look and any newly added clothing options.

How To Begin The Apple of Her Eye Side Quest

In addition to outfits, Alma can now change her eyewear—but this customization is tied to a hidden side quest. Interacting with Alma after the update triggers a dialogue in which she realizes her new glasses have gone missing. She suspects they were lost in the Scarlet Forest, setting the stage for a quest titled The Apple of Her Eye.

Start by making your way to the Wudwud Hideout in the Scarlet Forest. Upon arrival, speak with Thunk, a Wudwud who mentions that lost items usually float down the river. A faint marker will appear on the map. The simplest route is from the Scarlet Forest Base Camp in Area One, heading north with a Seikret.

Soon, you’ll encounter another Wudwud who directs you further downstream. There, you’ll spot a small Wudwud wearing Alma’s glasses—albeit upside-down. He’ll dash away toward the hideout. Once back at the hideout, Thunk explains that the Wudwuds won’t help unless it’s time for their festivities. To advance, use the Rest option to shift to a season of plenty during the nighttime.

Gathering Clues During The Wudwud Festivities

When the Wudwud celebration begins, speak to everyone at the top of the hideout. They will give you various items and new trade opportunities while dropping hints about Ayejack—the Wudwud currently holding the glasses. The clues suggest that he’s asleep below, but no direct marker is given at this point.

To find him, return to the base level and look for leaf-and-vine pouches where Wudwuds sleep. Ayejack can be found across from Musharpeye, the item trader, resting inside a pouch near a large tree. Approaching him will finally trigger a quest marker.

Completing The Trade For Alma’s Glasses

After waking Ayejack, the next step involves trading for the glasses. He will request Eastern Honey in return. Players can obtain this item in several ways:

  • Capturing Vigorwasps
  • Receiving it as an occasional reward from Event Quests
  • Gathering honey with a chance for a rare drop
  • Trading with Ren at Sild – The Keeper’s Vigil in Wyveria
  • Trading with Gawdygog at the Wudwud Hideout in Scarlet Forest

Once the Eastern Honey is acquired, return to Ayejack to complete the trade. Alma will express her happiness about retrieving the red glasses, which now become a permanent customization option. When visiting a tent, you’ll find new options to equip her red spectacles or an additional set of square frames.

Bonus Gear For Your Hunter

Interestingly, both sets of glasses can also be crafted as High Rank armor pieces for hunters. Listed as Strategist Spectacles and Square Glasses, they offer utility-focused perks such as maxed-out Geologist and Botanist skills—making them highly beneficial for players who prioritize gathering.

This update may mark the beginning of expanded personalization for Alma. Given the game’s history with downloadable cosmetic items, additional outfits and gear are expected in future updates. However, it’s uncertain whether future customization options will be free or follow the paid model of the current outfits.
