A new revelation has surfaced as the Gorgon Point SKU appears, confirming previously leaked details, such as core clocks and the integrated GPU. This development has sparked excitement among tech enthusiasts, as it sheds light on the upcoming features of the Ryzen AI 9 HX 470 processor.
Ryzen AI 9 HX 470: A Refresh with Enhanced Specifications
In June, an NBD shipping manifest hinted at details about the Strix Point Refresh, also known as AMD Gorgon Point SKUs. These upcoming processors are set to leverage the Zen 5 architecture, offering modestly improved specifications. Recently, a benchmark on SiSoftware has confirmed the SKU name and several key features of this processor.
The leaker @momomo_us identified the listing on SiSoftware’s Ranker, denoting the model as “Ryzen AI 9 HX 470,” a successor to the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 from the Strix Point lineup. This refreshed processor maintains the Zen 5 architecture and features higher core clocks, achieving a 5.25 GHz boost clock compared to 5.1 GHz on the prior model. The Zen 5 cores’ base clock remains at 2.0 GHz.
The processor boasts a 12-core/24-thread configuration and integrates a Radeon 890M iGPU based on RDNA 3.5 architecture. While the exact maximum clock speed of the Radeon 890M is still unknown, some adjustments are anticipated. An HP Elitebook X G2a 14-inch notebook was utilized for the sample, and the current lineup includes the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 SKU.
Anticipation for Gorgon Point’s Official Launch
As the official launch of the Gorgon Point series approaches, anticipation grows for an updated lineup of APUs offering enhanced performance. A notable change in the specifications is the addition of 3x 16 MB L3 cache in the new SKU. Although AMD has not verified these specifications, they are generating significant interest.
The forthcoming Gorgon Point Ryzen AI 400 series will succeed the existing Krackan Point chips, unifying them under the “Gorgon Point” family. The series is expected to feature configurations as low as 4-core/8-thread, broadening the lineup’s appeal. While the official launch date remains unconfirmed, reports suggest that AMD could introduce the new series early next year.
