AMD’s forthcoming Ryzen AI 5 430 “Gorgon” CPU has surfaced, revealing enhancements in specifications and performance over its predecessor, the Ryzen AI 5 330 “Strix”.

Enhanced Features of the AMD Ryzen AI 5 430 “Gorgon” CPU

AMD is set to roll out a refreshed version of its Ryzen AI 300 series, now branded as the Ryzen AI 400 series. This new lineup, referred to as Gorgon Point, has had several specifications leaked in recent weeks. The latest addition to this family, the AMD Ryzen AI 5 430, has appeared in the BAPCo database. This entry-level CPU boasts 4 cores built on the Zen 5 core architecture, with 8 MB of L3 and 4 MB of L2 cache. Designed to succeed the Ryzen AI 5 330, the new chip is expected to maintain a TDP between 15-28W, although its exact clock speeds remain undisclosed.

A notable upgrade is the integrated GPU (iGPU) within the Ryzen AI 5 430. While its predecessor, the Ryzen AI 5 330, featured 2 CUs in its Radeon 820M iGPU, the new Ryzen AI 5 430 includes a more powerful Radeon 840M iGPU with 4 CUs. This advancement promises enhanced graphics performance for users, delivering a marked improvement over the previous generation. This chip achieves a remarkable 19% performance boost compared to its predecessor, highlighting potential higher clock speeds or internal chip optimizations.

Performance Benchmark and Upcoming Launch

The AMD Ryzen AI 5 430’s testing was conducted on a notebook featuring 16 GB of DDR5-5600 memory, using the “Korat Plus-GPT3” motherboard, a reference platform for Strix and Gorgon CPUs. Despite sharing the same ID, “AuthenticAMD AMD64 Family 26 Model 104 Stepping 0”, the Gorgon and Strix SKUs differ mainly in configuration, not architecture. In BAPCo’s CrossMark suite, the Ryzen AI 5 430 demonstrated a significant 19% performance enhancement over its predecessor, hinting at the potential for increased clock speeds or optimizations.

These findings align with earlier reports and suggest that AMD’s Ryzen AI 5 series, initially lacking a four-core SKU, may have adjusted its plans. The official unveiling of AMD’s Gorgon “Ryzen AI 400” series is anticipated at CES 2026, promising more developments soon.
