Valve Reveals Steam Frame, Steam Machine, and New Steam Controller, Launching Early 2026

Valve has set the stage for an exciting future in gaming by unveiling three groundbreaking products: the Steam Frame Virtual Reality headset, a new Steam Machine, and an updated Steam Controller. These innovations are poised to hit the market early next year, promising to reshape the gaming landscape.

Breaking New Ground with Steam Frame

Valve introduces the Steam Frame, a visionary leap from the Valve Index, designed as a wireless ‘streaming-first’ VR headset. It boasts a 6GHz wireless adapter for a robust connection, separating audio and visual streaming from Wi-Fi functions to minimize interference. Featuring a pioneering Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, 4nm architecture, and SteamOS, the headset serves as a standalone gaming platform. It includes 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and storage options ranging from 256GB to 1TB. Valve ensures superior comfort and performance with a 440g weight, cutting-edge audio, and a stunning 2160 x 2160 resolution per eye.

Foveated streaming technology stands out, optimizing visual focus with low-latency eye-tracking, enhancing image clarity over tenfold. This technology ensures the highest-quality pixels align perfectly with the user’s line of sight, revolutionizing VR gaming.

The Reinvented Steam Machine

The newly designed Steam Machine emerges as a compact powerhouse, yet significantly more potent than its predecessor and the Steam Deck. With a semi-custom AMD Zen 4 processor and an RDNA3 GPU, it offers a powerhouse gaming experience within a sleek, cube-shaped 2.6kg frame. Though not the most formidable on the market, its ability to support up to 4K@60 FPS gaming with AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution highlights its potential. Silent operation and broad compatibility with Steam’s ecosystem enhance its allure, alongside expandable storage via microSD.

The Enhanced Steam Controller

The reinvented Steam Controller brings a suite of innovations, including magnetic thumbsticks with TMR technology and capacitive touch for seamless motion controls. Featuring Grip Sense for gyro aiming, it promises a dynamic gameplay experience. A ‘Puck’ transmitter ensures a strong wireless connection and doubles as a charging dock. Compatible across multiple devices including the Steam Deck and Steam Machine, the controller sets a new standard for immersive gaming interactions.
