Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 Delayed Again, Now Expected in October 2025

The highly anticipated sequel, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, has experienced yet another shift in its release window. This time, players will have to wait until October 2025 to get their hands on the game.

This new delay, while relatively short compared to previous changes, was quietly mentioned during a recent development update video shared by publisher Paradox Interactive and developer The Chinese Room. Although the game was previously slated for a launch in the first half of the year, this updated timeline pushes the release back by a few months. On the bright side, the team behind the project assured fans that the game’s core development is complete.

Marco Behrmann, the Executive Producer for Bloodlines 2, stated that the title is essentially finished at this point. He explained that the current focus is on ironing out bugs, ensuring stability, and improving performance in order to deliver the highest quality experience to players once the game finally lands on shelves.

Positive Progress Amid Another Delay

Although this latest rescheduling marks yet another frustrating chapter in the game’s long development journey, the short update video did provide a few encouraging tidbits. According to The Chinese Room, additional content and deeper story elements have been added since the last major update. The development team also noted that the character Fabien will have a more developed and significant presence in the final version of the game.

However, not all the news was uplifting. A message shared on the official Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 social media page indicated that development updates will become less frequent moving forward. While previous developer diaries have helped fans stay informed during the prolonged development period, it seems players will now have fewer updates to look forward to in the coming months.

A Rocky Road Since 2019

Even casual observers of the Bloodlines series are likely aware of the numerous challenges the second installment has faced over the years. Originally announced in 2019, the game was initially in development by Hardsuit Labs with a tentative launch set for the first quarter of 2020. That plan was quickly scrapped in favor of a later 2020 release, but the delays didn’t stop there.

By mid-2020, the release had been moved once again, this time to 2021. In March of that year, development was hit with further setbacks, including layoffs at Hardsuit Labs. The turbulence ultimately led to a significant change in direction when The Chinese Room—known for Still Wakes the Deep—took over development in 2023. At that time, the studio aimed for a 2024 release. Now, following one more postponement, the game is expected to arrive in October 2025.

Looking Toward the Future

Given the game’s troubled history, it remains uncertain whether Bloodlines 2 will manage to finally reach players this fall and live up to expectations. However, The Chinese Room currently seems optimistic about its chances.

In a statement from Paradox, it was also suggested that if the game proves successful upon release, a different development team will likely take the reins for the next installment, Bloodlines 3. For now, fans can only hope that this will be the final delay before they can return to the dark, immersive world of Vampire: The Masquerade.
