Vietnam’s esports scene has achieved a remarkable feat by clinching the gold medal at the SEA Games 2025, thanks to a stellar performance in the Arena of Valor women’s category. The Southeast Asian event, held in Thailand, has included esports as a medal event for the fourth time, showcasing its growing importance in the region.
A Dominant Run to Gold
Vietnam’s team displayed sheer dominance throughout the women’s tournament. Entering as favorites, they blazed through the group stages and upper bracket finals without losing a single game. This momentum carried them into the grand finals, where they achieved a flawless 4-0 victory against Laos, with three of the matches concluded in under 11 minutes. Vietnam’s unyielding aggression and strategy secured their top podium finish.
The journey for Laos to the finals was unexpected. Their path was cleared following an incident involving Thailand’s Warasin Naphat, who was disqualified for using unauthorized software during the upper bracket finals. Consequently, Laos advanced to the finals, and Timor-Leste was awarded the bronze medal, marking its second overall medal win at the SEA Games 2025.

The SEA Games esports events continue to heat up in Thailand. Arena of Valor’s men’s competition is scheduled for December 18th and 19th, promising more thrilling action. Meanwhile, the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang tournament is nearing its climax, with both the men’s and women’s finals featuring face-offs between the Philippines and Malaysia.
Additionally, the highly anticipated Free Fire event will kick off on December 17th, where 12 teams will vie for the gold medal. The SEA Games 2025 is proving to be an exciting chapter for esports enthusiasts across Southeast Asia.
