In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, players occasionally encounter moments that blur the lines between friend and foe. One of these moments involves Demineur, a Nevron located in the Flying Waters dungeon. While many Nevrons are immediate threats, some—like Demineur—offer a more complex interaction.
Locating Demineur in the Flying Waters
To reach Demineur, begin from the Expedition 59 checkpoint known as Noco’s Hut. Proceed forward through the valley until you spot two enemies guarding a towering structure. Rather than heading directly toward them, veer left around the building and wrap around to the right side. Eventually, you’ll discover a large jar-shaped tunnel. Navigate through this to find Demineur on the other side.
When the party interacts with Demineur, choose the “Examine” option rather than attacking. Although this particular Nevron is expected to carry a mine, it appears they have misplaced it. Your party will then decide to assist by retrieving it.
Solving the Platforming Puzzle to Find the Mine
From where Demineur stands, move right until you find a simple platforming challenge. Make a few jumps, and then look to your right to spot a glowing pink object—this is the sought-after “Impact Mine.” Carefully cross the platforms to retrieve it.
With the mine in hand, return to Demineur and hand it over. As a reward for your effort, you’ll receive Lune’s Deminerim, a weapon that deals lightning-based damage. It also comes with bonuses such as reduced AP cost and enhanced lightning skill output—making it a valuable tool for your party.

What If You Choose to Attack Instead?
Demineur can be attacked either before or after delivering the Impact Mine. If you strike before completing the quest, you lose the chance to obtain the Deminerim weapon permanently. Defeating Demineur yields modest rewards: 3x Colour of Lumina and 1x Chroma Catalyst, which are the same items awarded for defeating Jar earlier in the game.
If you’re aiming for immediate loot, this might seem appealing. However, it’s important to consider the broader consequences of this decision.
Future Consequences Tied to Your Choice
Later in the adventure—specifically in Act Three—you’ll gain access to flight using Esquie. Head toward the area near Spring Meadows known as The Fountain, where you’ll meet a character named Blanche. If you’ve chosen to spare Demineur and other quest-giving Nevrons encountered throughout the game, Blanche will reward you with an impressive 100x Colour of Lumina.
On the other hand, if any of those Nevrons were eliminated, Blanche becomes hostile. This confrontation is no small feat—you’ll want to be around level 80 to handle the battle. Defeating Blanche grants you just 10x Colour of Lumina and 2x Grandiose Chroma Catalyst, a significant downgrade compared to the peaceful route.
A Strategic Recommendation
While it might be tempting to attack Demineur for quick gains, exercising restraint leads to far greater benefits. Not only do you receive a unique weapon for Lune early on, but later choices compound this decision for massive rewards. Sparing Demineur becomes even more rewarding if you return after obtaining Blanche’s gift—you can still fight Demineur afterward for an extra bonus.
Ultimately, patience and diplomacy pay off in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, turning what appears to be a minor side quest into a key element of long-term strategy.
