Electronic Arts (EA) has revealed that the Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS) Midseason Playoffs will be a highlight of the 2025 Esports World Cup. This marks a historic moment as the Apex Legends esports circuit ventures into the Middle East for the first time. Scheduled from July 10 to July 14, 2025, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the event will bring together top-tier talent in a thrilling multi-title esports festival running through July and August.
Massive Prize Pool and Global Competition
The Midseason Playoffs will see 40 teams from around the globe battling for a share of a substantial $2 million prize pool, one of the largest ever offered in Apex Legends esports. Beyond the cash rewards, teams will also compete for Championship Points, which play a critical role in securing a spot at the season-ending ALGS Championship. This high-stakes competition promises intense matches and unforgettable moments for fans of the battle royale title.
Tournament Structure Breakdown
The 2025 ALGS Midseason Playoffs introduce a revamped format designed to keep the action fast-paced and competitive. The event kicks off with a Group Stage, where the 40 participating teams are split into two groups of 20. Each group will play a series of 10 matches, with the top seven teams from each advancing directly to the Match Point Finals.
Teams finishing between eighth and 17th in their group will move to the Last-Chance Semifinals, where they’ll compete in another 10-match series. From there, the top six teams earn a spot in the Match Point Finals, while the rest are eliminated. Teams ranked 18th to 20th in the Group Stage will exit the tournament early. The Match Point Finals will feature the top 20 teams from both stages, culminating in a showdown to crown the champion.
Integration with the Esports World Cup
For 2025, the ALGS Midseason Playoffs will be fully integrated into the Esports World Cup, a departure from 2024, when Apex Legends held a separate event during the tournament. This integration elevates the game’s presence on the global stage, aligning it with other major esports titles in Riyadh. Apex Legends was among the first games confirmed for the 2025 Esports World Cup, following its announcement in December 2024.
A Legacy of Fierce Competition
The 2024 Esports World Cup saw European organization Alliance claim victory in the Apex Legends event, with Team Falcons securing a strong second-place finish. The 2025 Midseason Playoffs promise to build on this legacy, offering fans a chance to witness new rivalries and epic plays. With its massive prize pool, revamped format, and integration into a global esports spectacle, the event is poised to be a defining moment for Apex Legends esports.
